Ordered that this Council favours the granting the
prayer of the petition of Messrs Davidson and Doran for
exemption from taxation on their proposed improvments
and that the City Solicitor be instructed to prepare a
By Law accordingly.
A Communication from John Bernie was read
stating the Massey manufacturing Company of Toronto
are desirous of erecting a frame covering over their
implements on M. Beaupres Hotel yard and requesting
permission to do so. There was no action taken thereon.
On motion the Council adjourned.

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the
City of Kingston was held this day. Present
His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, John Carson, RJ Carson, Clements,
Creeggan, Downing, Dunn, Gildersleeve,
Irving, Law, McGuire, McIntyre, Quigley,
Redden, Shaw, Smythe, Whiting, J Wilson
The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.
Ald RJ Carson rose to a question of privilege
The Council went into Committee of the whole on
the second reading of the consolidation of the By Laws
Ald Quigley in the Chair
The Council resumed.
The Committee rose reported progress and asked leave
to sit again. The Report was received.
Ald RJ Carson moves seconded by Ald Smythe
That the Council go into Committee of the whole
on the second reading of the exemption By Law
In amendment
Ald CF Gildersleeve moves seconded by Ald Clements
That reports be now taken up which being
put was carried and the original motion was lost
Ald RJ Carson from the Committee on Finance
and accounts brought up a Report (Number 194 Book E)
which was read and adopted.
The Chairman from the Select Committee on
Water Works brought up a Report (Number 195 Book E)
