A Communication from James Connolly was read
calling the attention of the Council to a deserted child left with
him and requesting the Council to allow a sum per month
towards its support. Referred to the Committee on Finance

A Communication from Alexander Straw respecting
Statute Labor Tax was read and referred to the Court
of Revision

A Communication from M. Lavell Esquire MD was
read soliciting the gratuitous use of Ontario Hall for
the annual examinations of the College of Physicians and
Surgeons of Ontario commencing on the 3rd of April proximo

On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: McIntyre
Ordered, That the petition of M Lavell MD. in
reference to use of Ontario Hall for examinations be
granted

A Communication from Charles Fald was read
complaining of the drain built across lots 967 & 968 Victoria
Ward &c. Referred to the Committee on Streets &c

Ald: Smythe brought up the petition of Harry
Hitchen respecting arrears of Taxes - Referred to
the Finance Committee.

Ald Downing brought up the petition of S.Hamilton
and 9 others complaining of imperfect drainage on
Gordon street and praying it may be remedied
Referred to the Committee On Streets &c

On motion of Ald: Smyth[e] seconded by Ald: W. Wilson
Ordered, That the Mayor be authorized to
advertize for applications for Pound Keepers for the
year 1883.

Ald: R.J. Carson gives notice that he will at
the next meeting of the Council introduce a By Law
to provide standing conditions for grants of exemption from
the payment of municipal Taxes

On Motion the Council adjourned
