The 30th Rule was again suspended and
the By Law was read a third time and passed

Ald: McIntyre gives notice that he will at
the next meeting of this Council introduce a By Law
to exempt from Taxation in the City of Kingston the
Montreal Transportation Company and that this be
the first reading of the By Law

A Communication from Harford Ashley was
read In Re Grant of $100. towards defraying expenses
in the manufacture of Butter and Cheese at the last Provincial
Exhibition and enclosing Certificate of several of the
members of the Eastern Dairymen's Association on the
subject

On motion of Ald: McIntyre seconded by Ald: Carson
Ordered, That the Communication of Mr Ashley
be referred to Aldermen Irving and Smythe to report

A Communication from M.W. Drennan was read
in reference to Taxation. Referred to the Committee
on Finance

A Communication from George A Kirkpatrick Esq
Secretary of the Board of Trustees Collegiate Institute
was read stating that Prof: Watson resigned as a member
of the Board

On motion of Ald: Clements seconded by Ald: J. Wilson
Ordered, That Ald: Smythe be appointed to fill
the vacancy on the Board of Grammar School Trustees

A Communciation from George A Kirkpatrick
Esquire Secretary Board of Grammar School Trustees Collegiate Institute
was read asking for the sum of seventeen hundred dollars for
the general purposes of the School for the current year &c
Referred to the Finance Committee.

Ald: Crothers brought up the petition of David Heaslet [Hazlet]
praying for a Butchers License on certain conditions
Referred to the License Committee

On motion of Ald: Clements seconded by Ald: McGuire
Ordered, That the chairman of the Committee
on Fire, Water and Gas ascertain from the Manager
of the Gas Company what would be the additional
expense per lamp to keep the street lamps burning until
day light in the morning and to report to this Council

Ald: John Carson brought up the petitions of John
Saunders and E. Robbs praying they may be granted
a Butchers License.

On motion of Ald: J. CArson seconded by Ald: Dunn
Ordered, That the petitions of E. Robbs and John
Saunders be granted.

Ald: R.J. Carson brought up the petition of Joseph
Salter
