The Council adjourned accordingly

The Council met pursuant to adjournment

All the members present.

The Chairman for the Select Committee to strike the
standing committees for the year brought up a Report
(Number 168 Book E) which was read.

Ald RJ Carson moves seconded by Ald Allen
That the report of the Committee to strike the standing
committees for the year be received and adopted

In amendment
Ald McIntyre moves seconded by Ald Quigley
That the report of the Committee to strike standing
Committees be taken up clause by clause which being put
was lost - Yeas 9; Nays 13 and the original motion was carried

Ald Law moves seconded by Ald W Wilson
That Ald Whiting be apponted Director on the Kingston
and Pembroke Railway on behalf of the City.

In amendment
Ald McIntyre moves seconded by Ald Smythe
That Ald. McGuire be the Director of the
Kingston and Pembroke Railway for the year 1883 which
being put was carried
Yeas: Mayor Livingston, Aldermen Allen, Clements, Creeggan,
Crothers, Gordon, McGuire, McIntyre, Quigley,
Smythe, J Wilson - 11
Nays: Ald John Carson, RJ Carson, Dunn, Irving,
Law, Redden, Shaw, Whiting, W Wilson - 9

Alderman Downing and Gildersleeve were excused from
voting

On motion of Ald Smythe seconded by Ald RJ Carson
Ordered, That His Worship the Mayor and Ald Allen,
RJ Carson, McGuire, McIntyre and the mover be appointed
the Select Committee on the Consolidation of the By Laws

On motion of Ald Redden seconded by Ald Whiting
Ordered, That the following be a Special Committee
to make arrangements for the construction of a proper system
of Water Works and report from time to time to the Council the
Mayor, Aldmn Allen, McIntyre, McGuire, RJ Carson, Irving, Shaw and
that Ald McIntyre be Chairman - all rules be suspended contrary
to this motion

A Communication from the Department of Immigration Toronto
was read In Re Market Tolls on fees & referred to Market Committee

On motion the Council adjourned
