A Meeting of teh Members elect of the Council of the
Corporation of the City of Kingston was held this day.
Present

Charles Livingston Esquire Mayor elect

Cataraqui Ward
William Allen, William J Carothers, Joseph Quigley

Frontenac Ward
William D Gordon, George Creeggan, William Dunn,

Ontario Ward
Leonard Clements, William Wilson, William Irving,

Rideau Ward
John Carson, John McIntyre, Edward Law

Saint Lawrence Ward
James Redden, Robert J Carson, John L Whiting

Sydenham Ward
Edward H Smythe, Thomas H McGuire, Felix Shaw

Victoria Ward
Charles F Gildersleeve, James Wilson, James Downing

The Judge of the County Court Cornelius V
Price Esquire was in attendance and administered the
declarations of qualification and of office to the Mayor
elect.

Whereupon the Mayor took the chair and admonished
the declarations of qualification and of office to the
Aldermen elect

The Mayor verbally addressed the Council on
City Matters

Communications from William Gunn and Adam
McArthur were read asking to be appointed City Auditor

The Mayor nominated Henry Ruttan as one of the
City Auditors

Ald RJ Carson moves seconded by Ald Gildersleeve
That Adam McArthur be appointed Auditor
on behalf of the Council and that the Council confirm the
nomination of the Mayor

In amendment 1st
Ald McGuire moves seconded by Ald Creeggan
That WA Gunn be the auditor to be appointed
by the Council

In amendment 2nd
Ald McIntyre moves seconded by Ald McGuire
That the Council do now proceed to appoint an
auditor by ballot - which being put was lost Yeas 9 Nays 12 as was also the
first amendment and the original motion was carried

On motion of Ald RJ Carson seconded by Ald Irving
Ordered, That the following be a Select Committee
to
