of Kingston was held this day. Present

The Meeting adjourned for want of a quorum

A Meeting of the Council of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor

John Carson, R.J. Carson, Clements, Craig
Creeggan, Downing, Dupuis, J.P. Gildersleeve
Gordon, Irving, Law, Little, McCammon
McGuire, McINtyre, Redden, Smythe, Wilson

The Clerk read the minutes of the three last meetings

Ald: McCammon asked for the suspension of the 31st
Rule of Council which was granted

Ald: McCammon brought up the petition of George S.
Hobart and 99 others praying the City Council to proclaim
Monday the 3rd day of July as a Holiday instead of
Saturday the 1st

On Motion of Ald: McCammon seconded by Ald: Redden
Ordered, that the prayer of the petition of Messrs
McGuire, George S. Hobart and 99 others that Monday the
3rd day of July be kept as a Holiday instead of Saturday
July 1st and that His Worship the Mayor issue the usual
proclamation proclaiming Monday as a general Holiday

Ald: McIntyre introduced a By Law to levy a rate
of sixteen mills on the dollar upon the assessed value
of the rateable property in the City of Kingston for the
lawful purposes of the municipality for the year of our
Lord 1882. Which was read a first time

The 30th Rule of Council was suspended as to the readings
of this By Law

The Council went into Committee of the whole
on the second reading
