Kingston was held this day. Present

Dupuis, CF Guildersleeve, McGuire, McIntyre, Quigley,
Smythe

The meeting adjourned for want of a quorum.

A Special Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the
City of Kingston to take up the regular business of the
Council and to pass Market By Laws was held this day

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, John Carson, RJ Carson, Clements,
Downing, CF Gildersleeve, CP Gildersleeve,
Irving, LIttle, McCammon, McGuire, Quigley,
Wilson

The Mayor read a communication he received from Joshua
Legge Esquire Gananoque respecting the holding of the
Provincial Exhibition this year.

On motion of Ald JP Gildersleeve seconded by Ald John Carson
Ordered, That with a view to greater economy in
the expenditure on streets and to increased efficiency and
permanency of road bed, it be an instruction to the Committee
on Streets to institute all necessary inquiries for the purpose
of obtaining information regarding the cost of purchase and
working of steam stone crushers and road rollers, and as to the
cost of permanency of granite or equally durable metal
as a road bed material as compared with limestone and to
report to this Council with all reasonable despatch.

Ald McCammon introduced a By Law to name a street
which was read a first time.

The 30th Rule was suspended and the Council
went into Committee of the whole on the second reading

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second
reading
