Gardiner praying that the frontage be not imposed on him
on his property lately erected as a biscuit and Confectionary
factory corner of Earl and Division streets

On motion of Ald: McIntyre seconded by Ald: Smythe
Ordered, that the petition of James O Gardiner be
referred to the Committee on Streets and Improvements to
report at the next meeting of the Council

Ald: Allen brought up the petition of James Reid
and 151 others praying for free trade in fresh meat through
the City

On motion of Ald: Allen seconded by Ald: Clements
Ordered, that the petition of James Reid and others
be received

Ald: R.J. Carson from the Committee On Finance and
Accounts brought up a Report (Number 117 Book E.) which
was read and adopted

The Chairman from the Committee on Streets and
Improvements brought up a Report (Number 118 Book E.)
which was read and adopted

On motion of Ald: Smythe seconded by Ald: Irving
Ordered, that the Mayor and Aldermen Allen
R.J. Carson, McGuire, J.P. Gildersleeve and the mover be
re appointed a select committee on the Consolidation of
the By Laws

On motion of Ald: R.J. Carson seconded by Ald: Irving
Ordered, that Alderman McGuire be the Director
for the City on the Kingston and Pembroke Railway Board

On Motion of Ald: McIntyre seconded by Ald: Smythe
Ordered, that the following, namely the Mayor
Aldermen Allen, R. J. Carson, Irving, McCammon,
McGuire and the mover be a Committee to prosecute the
investigations commenced by the Committee appointed on
the 25th July last respecting the Water Works and report
from time to time as may be necessary

On motion of Ald: McIntyre seconded by Ald: Smythe
Ordered, that Ald: C.F. Gildersleeve, Irving,
Smythe, Allen, McCammon, McGuire, and the mover
be a Committee on Municipal Legislation

On motion of Ald: Allen seconded by Ald: Dupuis
Ordered, that the City Clerk be directed to
advertise for Tenders for the Job Printing required by the
City for the ensuing year. Also for the stationary
required by the Council for the same period, to be reported
on at the next meeting of the Council

Ald: Smythe introduced a By law to consolidate
and amend the By Laws of the Corporation of the City of Kingston
and to repeal certain By Laws which was read a first
time
