In Amendment First

Ald: Gaskin moves seconded by Ald: McCammon
That the report of Committee on Licenses be so altered as to allow
the Cab men to occupy from Ontario to King Street North side, on the
condition that the place be kept clean

In Amendment Second

Ald J: Wilson moves seconded by Ald: Clements
That, that part of the License Committee report be amended by
fixing the limit of the Cab-stand on the North side of Clarence Street
to a point opposite a telegraph post at the Old Engine house.

Which being put was lost, as was the first Amendment,
And the original motion was carried.

Newlands (6.)

Nays:- Aldermen, Allen, Anglin, R.J. Carson, Clements, Gage,
J.P. Gildersleeve, Irving, Law, McMahon, Robinson, J. Wilson (11.)

The Chairman from the Committee on Wharves and Harbor brought
up a Report (Number 98. Book E.) which was read and adopted.

Ald: McMahon from the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas,
brought up a Report (Number 99. Book E.) which was read and
adopted.

Ald RJ Carson introduced a By Law to authorize His Worship
The Mayor and City Treasurer to borrow $22,000 which was read a
first time

The 29th Rule was suspended and The Council went into Committee
of the whole on the second reading of the By law.

Ald: J. Wilson in the Chair.

The Council resumed, The Committee rose and The Chairman reported
the second reading of the By Law, clause by clause, in Committee of the
whole, the Report was received, the By Law was read a Third
time and passed

On motion of Ald: J. Wilson seconded by Ald: Irving
Ordered, That the thanks of this Council be and are hereby
tendered to the City Council of Chicago for the handsome copies
of their annual Report and Code of Laws, presented to this
Council, and that the City Clerk do acknowledge the receipt of
said books.

Ald: Irving brought up the petition of J. Wilson executor
Estate of late James Linton in reference to taxes

On motion of Ald Irving seconded by Ald R.J. Carson,
Ordered, that the petition of James Wilson be referred
to the Court of revision

On motion The Council adjourned
