Ordered, That the Communication of R. Graves be
referred to the mayor with power to act.

Ald: Robinson brought up the petition of the Mechanics
Institute praying for a remission of Taxes

On motion of Ald: Robinson seconded by Ald: R.J. Carson
Ordered, that the prayer of the petition of the
Mechanics Institute be granted.

Ald: Irving, Allen and Gage brought up the
petitions of the Widow Turcott, Mrs. B.K. Phippen, Henry Conley
and John McIlroy respecting Taxes

On motion of Ald: Gage seconded by Ald: Law
Ordered, that the petitions of John McIlroy and others
in reference to Taxes be referred to the Court of Revision to report

The Chairman from the Select Committee in Re
Provincial Exhibition brought up a Report (Number 94 Book E)
which was read and adopted

On motion of Ald: Gaskin seconded by Ald: McMahon
Ordered, that a Committee consisting of the Mayor
Aldn. C.F. Gildersleeve, Robinson, Allen, R.J. Carson, J.H.
Metcalfe M.P.P., George A. Kirkpatrick M.P., Alexander Green
M.P., the City Clerk and the mover be appointed to proceed
to London to assist in procuring the Exhibition of 1882 for
this City.

On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: McMahon
Ordered, that the mayor be requested to communicate
with the Grand trunk Railway authorities in
reference to their intentions about their several works
in the Vicinity of Kingston

On motion the Council adjourned
