A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston
was held this day Present:

His Worship The Mayor.

Aldermen, Allen, Anglin, John Carson, R.J. Carson, Gage
Gaskin, Irving, Law, McMahon, Newlands, Robinson
Smythe, J. WIlson, W. Wilson.

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting
A Comunication from John Thornton was read stating that on
account of his health he would not be able to accept the
Market Tolls

The Mayor stated that the next tender that of
Thomas Moore was accepted.

A Communication from John Elmer and other members of the
Fire Department was read asking for an investigation

On motion of Ald. Gaskin seconded by Ald: J. Wilson
Ordered, That the communication of the Members of the Fire
Department be referred to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas
to investigate and report at next meeting of Council

Alderman McCammon here entered

The Mayor presented a copy of the annual reports of the City of
Newark for 1880, which he had received from the Mayor of Newark

On motion of Ald: McCammon seconded by Ald: McMahon
Ordered, That the City Clerk be instructed to communicate
with the City Clerk of Newark, New Jersy, thanking the Council for
the very handsome volume of City Reports for 1880 presented to the
City of Kingston

Ald: R.J. Wilson brought up the petition of J. Haffner asking
for transfer of Butchers license.

On motion of Ald: R.J. Carson seconded by Ald: Robinson
Ordered, That the petition of J. Haffner be referred to the
Committee on Licenses with power to act.

Ald: Robinson brought up the petition of William Allen
respecting Taxes

On motion of Ald; Robinson seconded by Ald Anglin
Ordered
