A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston
was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor

Aldermen
Allen, Anglin, John Carson, R.J. Carson, Clements
Gage, Gaskin, J.P. Gildersleeve, Gordon, Irving, Law
McCammon, McMahon, J. Wilson

The Clerk read the minutes of the two last meetings

The Council decided on taking up the Tenders for leasing the
Tolls &c of Markets Nos 1 & 2

The Tenders for markets Nos 1 & 2 were opened
and read as follows:

On motion of Ald: Gaskin seconded by Ald: McCammon
Ordered, that the Tender of John Johnston for Market
Number One being the highest be accepted also the Tender
of Richard Stewart for Market Number Two being the highest
be accepted on the Condition that the security offered be
acceptable to the Mayor and City Solicitor and that a
Competent person is provided in each market for weighing

A Communication from Messrs Bawden & Machar
was read In Re opening of Lot near Queen street School

On motion of Ald: R.J. Carson seconded by Ald: J. Wilson
Ordered, that. the Communication of Messrs Bawden
and Machar be referred to the Committee on Streets and City
Solicitor to report

A Certificate from the City Clerk was read stating
that the majority of the Electors Voting on the Bonus By Law
Kingston Cotton Manufacturing Company disapproved of
the By Law

A Communication from Henry Youlden was read
Tendering his resignation as Mechanical Engineer of the Fire
Department Kingston

On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: McMahon
Ordered, that the Communication of H. Youlden
Mechanical Engineer be referred to the Committee on Fire, Water
and Gas to report

A Circular from the Mayor of Quebec was read asking
aid for the sufferers of that City by the late Fire

On motion of Ald: J. Wilson seconded by Ald: R.J. Carson
Ordered, that the Communication of the Mayor of Quebec be
referred
