On motion of Ald Gildersleeve seconded by Ald Irving
Ordered, That this Council joins in the universal
sorrow over the dreadful calamity which has befallen the
City of London and desires to express to the people of that
City in their bereavement the deepest sympathy which can
be extended to fellow creatures in affliation

The Mayor, Chairman of the Finance Committee
submitted the Budget (No 79 Book E) which was
read

On motion of Ald CF Gildersleeve seconded by Ald
RJ Carso

Ordered, That the Council do now go into Committee
of the whole on the Budget

The Council resumed

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the Budget
read clause by clause and adopted as amended. The Report was
received and passed.

Ald Irving introduced a By Law to levy a rate of
sixteen mills on the dollar upon the assessed value of the rateable
property in the City of Kingsotn for the lawful pruposes of the
Municipality for the year of our Lord 1881 which was read
a final time.

The 29th Rule was suspended and the Council went
into Committee of the whole on the second reading

The Council resumed.

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second
reading of the By Law clause by clause. The Report was received.

The By Law was read a third time and passed
Ordered, That it be an instruction to the Committee on
City Property to take into consideration the sale of certain
property now in the possession of the Corporation, said Committee
to report at next meeting of this Council.

Ald Smythe introduced A By Law to abandon
that part of the Kingston and Phillipsville Road lying and
being in the Township of South Crosby being the North Easterly
end of the said road which was read a first time.

The 29th rule of Council was suspended and the
Council went into Committee of the whole on the second
reading
