A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of
Kingston was held this day. Present

Gage, Gaskin, C.F. Gildersleeve, J.P Gildersleeve
Gordon, Irving, Law, Maloney, McCammon
Newlands, Robinson, Smythe, W. Wilson

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting

A Communication from the Minister of Marine & Fisheries
was read In Re claim of City for maintaining City Hall
light

On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: W. Wilson
Ordered, that the Communication of the Deputy
Minister of Marine be referred to the Committee on Fire,
Water and Gas to report

A Communication from R. Freeman Agent Bell Telephone
Company of Canada was read proposing to establish a
telephone exchange in this City

On motion of Ald: Smythe seconded by Ald: R.J. Carson
Ordered, that the Communication of the Bell
Telephone Company be referred to the Committee on City
Property to report.

A Circular from Edward Playter Esquire M.D. was
read soliciting subscriptions to the Canada Health Journal.
There was no action taken therein.

A Communication from Edwin Horsey Chief Fire
Department was read stating Articles required for the
Department

On motion of Ald: W. Wilson seconded by Ald: Gordon
Ordered that the Communication of E. Horsey Chief
Engineer be referred to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas
to report

A Comunication from Francis Ellington was read
acknowledging Copy of order in Council In Re Gaol and
Court House

On Motion of Ald: McCammon seconded by Ald: Carson
Ordered, that the Communication of the County
Clerk be referred to the Committee on Finance

The Clerk submitted applications for the office of
Assessor for the City of Kingston as follows:- Hugh
Cummings, E. Moore, George Sears, Thomas Miller, James
J. Whitehead and F. J. George

On motion of Ald: Robinson seconded by Ald: Allen
Ordered that the applications for assesors be
laid over until the next regular meeting of the Council and
in the mean time further applications be received
