A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day Present

Gordon, Irving, Law, Maloney, McCammon, McGuire
McMahon, Newlands, Robinson, Smythe, J. Wilson
W. Wilson
The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting
A Communication from the County Clerk of the County of
Frontenac acknowledging the receipt of Communication from
the City Clerk was read in Re holding Division Court
in City Buildings
A Communication from Alexander Anderson was
read respecting Alarm Boxes
On motion of Ald: Wilson seconded by Ald: Gordon
Ordered, that the Communication of Messrs Anderson
and Nesbitt be referred to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas
to report.
A Communication from Joseph Tait respecting Taxes was read
On motion of Ald: Smythe seconded by Ald: R.J. Carson
Ordered, that the Communication of Joseph Tait be
referred to the Court of Revision to report.
A Communication from the Meteorological Office Toronto
was read In Re Storm Signal Kingston
A Communication from F.H.S Olivier President Kingston
Street railway was read acknowledging action of Council
of last meeting
On motion of Ald: Gaskin seconded by Ald: Allen
Ordered, that the Communication in reference to the
Storm Signal be referred to the Committee on Wharves and
Harbor with power to act, cost not to exceed $ 10.00
A Communication from James Ryan was read on the
subject of saving Gas
On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: McMahon
Ordered that the Communication of James Ryan agent
for J.M. Egan Manufacturar of Gas apparatus be referred to the
Committee on Fire, Water and Gas to report.
The Mayor stated he was served with a writ at the instance
of Mr John Duff for $ 54.00
Ald: McGuire brought up the petition of Peter Clark
praying the Council to purchase the balance of his broken stone
On motion of Ald: McGuire seconded by Ald: Gordon
Ordered, that the petition of P. Clark be referred to the
Committee on Streets with power to act
Ald: Gordon brought up the petition of George Birch respecting
Taxes
