A Communication from J & D Rourk was read
requesting the Council to appoint an arbitrator in the
matter pending between them.

On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: McMahon
Ordered, that the Communication of the Messers Rourk
be referred to the Committee on Streets with power to appoint
an arbitrator on behalf of the City Corporation.

A Communication from John Tetlock was read offering
the sum of One Hundred and Sixty dollars for Lot No 20
Place d'armes. there was no action taken therein

A Communication from Samuel Phippen Secretary
Board of Public School Trustees was read stating that Certain
parties fenced in the street on east side of Queen street
school lot and Calling attention to Nuisance deposited on
said street

On motion of Ald: Robinson seconded by seconded by Ald: Allen
Ordered, that the Communication of Mr Phippen
be referred to the Committee on Streets to report.

A Communication from M Lavell Esquire MD was read
requesting the use of the Ontario Hall for the purpose of
holding the usual Medical Examinations on the 5th of April 1881

On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: McMahon
Ordered, that the petition of the Medical Council
in reference to the use of the Ontario Hall be granted

The Clerk stated he received a Communication from
John Stewart addressed to the Aldermen of the City of
Kingston which was not read being Considered out of order

Sundry petitions from John Devana and others taxes were
presented

On motion of Ald: R.J. Carson seconded by Ald: Robinson
Ordered, that the petitions of J. Devana and others
respecting Taxes be referred to the Court of Revision

Ald: R.J. Carson brought up the petition Maguire Brothers
requesting the Council to limit the City's proposition of Shop License
for the time not used

On motion of Ald: R.J. Carson seconded by Ald: McMahon
Ordered, that the petition of Maguire Brothers be
referred to the Committee on Licenses with power to act

Ald: Gage brought up the petition of John Robinson
respecting Drain on Brock street. no action.

Ald: J. Carson brought up the petition of William
Snowden praying the Council to Cause the drain Corner of Union
and Gordon street to be deepened

On motion of Ald: J. Carson seconded by Ald: Gage
