Ordered, that the petition of P. Clark and others as well as
that of Timothy Duffy be referred to the Committee upon streets and
Improvements to report.

Ald: C.F. Gildersleeve from the Committee On Finance And
Accounts brought up a Report (Number 54 Book E) which was
read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee of Streets and Improvements
brought up a Report (Number 55 Book E) which was read

On motion of Ald: Robinson seconded by Ald. W. Wilson
Ordered, that the report of the Committee on Streets and
Improvements be received and adopted with the exception of
clauses one and five to be held over for further consideration

On motion of Ald: R.J. Carson seconded by Ald: Allen
Ordered, that this Council offer the County Council
the sum of (2500) two thousand five hundred dollars per year
for the next five years for the use of the Court House and
maintenance of City Prisoners in the County Court, and in the
event of the County Council refusing to accept this offer that the
City proceed at once to get plans for the erection of a lock up
to be built by the City for the maintenance of its prisoners as soon
as said plans are approved of by this Council, in Connection with
the House of Industry

On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: McMahon
Ordered, that the Mayor be requested to repeat to
this Council at its next meeting, some method by which our
present Police Force can be utilized for the purpose of enforcing
the By Laws of the City

Ald R.J. Carson introduced a By Law to adopt the
assessment made between the first day of July and the thirtieth
day of September 1880 as the assessment for 1881 which was
read a first time

The 29th Rule was suspended as regards the readings
of this By Law and the Council went into Commitee of the
Whole on the second reading.

The Council resumed.

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the
seconding reading of the By Law clause by clause. The
Report was recieved

The By Law was read a third time and passed

The proposed amendments to the municipal and
assessment acts to go before the Ontario Legislature were read
approved of and adopted after striking out the appeal
clause in the municipal amendments

On motion the Council adjourned
