On motion of Ald RJ Carson seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That this Council petition the local
Legislature through their member against the abolition
of Market Tolls
A communication from George A Kirkpatrick Esquire
Secretary Board of Trustees Collegiate Institute was
read respecting appointment of Trustees.
On motion of Ald Irving seconded by Ald McMahon
Ordered, That M Sullivan Esquire MD and J
McCammon Esquire MD be re-appointed representatives of
this Council as Trustees of the Kingston Collegiate Institute
Ald CF Gildersleeve moves seconded by Ald Law
That the following be a Select Committee to strike
the standing committees for the year. Aldermen: Anglin,
Law, Gordon, W Wilson, RJ Carson, Smythe and the mover
and that the Council adjourn for half an hour to enable
the Committee then present their report
In amendment
Ald Gaskin moves seconded by Ald McMahon
That the following Aldermen be a special Committee
to strike the standing Committees for the present year
vis: Irving, Anglin, McGuire, McMahon, Law, Newlands
and the mover which being put was lost Yeas 10 - Nays 11
and the original motion being put was carried
The Council adjourned for twenty minutes
The Council met pursuant to adjournment
The Chairman, Ald CF Gildersleeve from the Select
Committee to strike the Standing Committees for the year
1881 brought up a Report (Number 53 Book E) which
was read
Ald CF Gildersleeve moves seconded by Ald RJ Carson
That the report be received and adopted and that
the person first named on each Committee in the Report be
Chairman thereof

Ald Gaskin moves seconded by Ald Allen
That the report of the Select Committee to strike the
standing committees for the year be taken up clause by clause
which being put was lost Yeas 10 - Nays 11
In amendment 2nd
Ald Smythe moves seconded by Ald Anglin
That the name of Ald Gaskin be substituted for
Maloney in the Market Committee and that of Ald
Maloney for Gaskin in the Wharves and Harbours which
being put was lost Yeas 10 Nays 11
