A meeting of the members elect of the new Council of the
Corporation of the City of Kingston was held this day

William D. Gordon, Isaac Newlands, James McCammon

Ontario Ward
William Irving, Leonard Clements, William Wilson

Rideau Ward
Edward Law, John Carson, Robert Gage

Saint Lawrence Ward
Robert J. Carson, Thomas McMahon

Sydenham Ward
Edward H Smythe, Thomas H. McGuire, James P. Gildersleeve

Victoria Ward
John Gaskin, Charles F. Gildersleeve, James Wilson

The Judge of the County Court of the County of
Frontenac, Cornelius V Price Esquire was in attendance and
administered the Declarations of Qualification and of Office to
the mayor elect

Whereupon the Mayor took the chair and administered
the declarations of qualification and of office to the
Aldermen present

The Mayor delivered an address to the Council
on certain matters affecting the interest of the City.

A Communication from F.J. George was read
asking to be appointed one of the City Auditors

The mayor nominated F J George as one of the
City Auditors

On motion of Ald: C.F. Gildersleeve seconded by Ald R.J. Carson
Ordered, that the nomination of FJ George
as auditor by His Worship the Mayor be comfirmed.

On motion of Ald CF Gildersleeve seconded by Ald RJ Carson
Ordered, That nominations for an auditor on behalf
of the Council be now received and an open vote taken
thereon and the person receiving the leasat number of votes
on any vote be omitted on the succeeding vote
until some nominee receive a majority of votes of the whole
Council when he be declared elected

On motion of Ald: Irving seconded by Ald: McGuire
Ordered, that Adam McArthur be appointed
Auditor for the year 1881 on behalf of the City.

On motion of Ald: Gaskin seconded by Ald: Allen
Ordered, that the Auditors be paid the same
amounts
