Kingston December 20 1880

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day pursuant to adjournment. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Clements, Gaskin, CF Gildersleeve, JP Gildersleeve,
Irving, Maloney, McGuire, McIntyre, McMahon,
McRossie, Pense, Snook, Wilson

Ald McIntyre from the Select Committee on the Kingston
and Pembroke Railway Bonus By Law of $50,000 brought
up a Report (Number 45 Boook E) which was read.

On motion of Ald McIntyre seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered, That the Report of the Committee on the
$50,000 By Law to the Kingston & Pembroke Railway be
received and adopted

Ald Wilson brought up the petition of H Weaver
praying for allowance in the event of his taking out a
shop license for the expired portion of the year

On motion of Ald Wilson seconded by Ald McMahon
Ordered, That the petition of H Weaver be referred
to the License Committee to report at the next meeting of the
Council

Aldmn Allen and Fee here entered

On motion of Ald McIntyre seconded by Ald McRossie
Ordered, That the Printing Committee be authorised
to have one hundred copies of Instructions as to the
Duties of Deputy Returning officers at Municpal
Elections printed. Ald Law here entered.

The Chairman from the Select Committee on
back taxes brought up a Report (Number 46 Book E)
which was read and adopted (Messrs Chown & Cunningham taxes)

The Chairman from the Committee on Wharves and
Harbor brought up a Report (Number 47 Book E)
which was read

A Communication from The
Public Works Department Ottawa was here read requiring
certain statistics concerning the Harbor

On motion of Ald Allen seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered, That the report of the Committee on Wharves
and Harbor be adopted

A Communication from the Surveyor General Ottawa
was read returning cheque for Rent. Ald McCammon here entered

On motion of Ald McIntyre seconded by Ald McGuire
Ordered, That the City Solicitor be requested to deliver
his opinion at the next meeting of this Council as to whether or
not, under the agreement between the City and the Kingston
Street Car Company, the said company can cease running
during the winter months, or during any part of the year
