The Chairman from the Select Committee on back taxes brought
up a second Report (Number 43 Book E) which was read & adopted
The Chairman from the Select Committee on Officers & Salaries
In Re Police Force brought up a Report which was read. There was no action
taken therein
The Chairman from the Committee on the Market brought
up a Report (Number 44 Book E) which was read and adopted
Ald McIntyre introduced a By Law to appoint Deputy
Returning Officers and places for holding the next ensuing Municpal
Elections for the City of Kingston which was read a first time
The 29th Rule was suspended for the evening in reference
to this By Law and the Council went into Committee of the whole
on the second reading

The Council resumed
The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second
reading of the By Law clause by clause. The Report was
received. The By Law was read a third time and passed
Ald McIntyre introduced a By Law to fix the places in
each Ward in the City of Kingston when the nomination of
candidates for the office of Alderman shall take place which
was read a first time
The 29 Rule was suspended and the Council went
into Committee of the whole on the second reading
Ald Irving in the Chair
The Council resumed
The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the
second reading of the By Law clause by clause. The
Report was received
The By Law was read a third time and passed
On motion of Ald Allen seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered, That the sum of $800 be paid to the Mayor
as the usual yearly salary and that we hereby record our unqualified
satisfaction with his impartial ruling & courteous conduct in the chair.
On motion of Ald McRossie seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered, That the Reporters be paid the usual amounts
for reporting the proceedings of this Council. Reporters to be paid
according to service at the Council
On motion of Ald CF Gildersleeve seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered, That the Council do adjourn until Monday
evening next at the usual hour when the unfinished business
of the present meeting be the first order of business.
On motion the Council adjourned
