A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston
was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Clements, Dupuis, Fee, Gaskin, CF Gildersleeve,
JP Gildersleeve, Harty, Irving, Law, Maloney, McCammon,
McGuire, McIntyre, McMahon, McRossie, Pense,
Snook, Wilson

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting

A communication from FC Ireland, City Treasurer was read
enclosing statement of Revenue and Expenditure of City
for year &c as per resolution of Council.

On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered, That the statement now submitted from
Treasurer showing the actual Revenue accruing for 1879 and
expenditure passed by Council of 1879, statement showing amount
of Taxes 31st December 1875 to 1879, amount of Corporation property sold
in year above mentioned to amount of money received from sale of
non-resident land, also amount of money in Bank 31st December
1875 to 31st December 1879. The above statements to be left in the Clerks
Office for future reference

On motion of Ald Harty seconded by Ald Irving
Ordered, That the Finance Committee investigate the
statement of the Revenue and Expenditure of the year 1879 and
present an official report of the same to the Council

A Communication from JH McGuire Secretary and
Treasurer Teachers Association asking for a grant of $50
towards said Association according to Law

On motion of Ald McRossie seconded by Ald McIntyre
Ordered That the communication of Mr McGuire
in reference to a grant for the teachers association be referred
to the Finance Committee to report.

Ald Irvin brought up the petition of the Cataraqui
Bridge Company respecting over assessment

On motion of Ald Irving seconded by Ald Maloney
Ordered, That the petition of the Cataraqui Bridge
Company referred to the Finance Committee to report

Ald McCammon brought up the petition of James Kane
praying some remuneration for losses sustained in contract for
lighting coal oil lamps.

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald McGuire
Ordered, That the petition of Mr James Kane be referred
to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas to report

Ald Dupuis brought up the petition of John Elmer praying
for a remission of License

On motion of Ald Dupuis seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered, That the petition of John Elmer be referred
to
