Ordered, That the petition of WB & S Anglin be referred to
the Committee on Finance to report
Ald Gaskin brought up the petition of David Gray asking for
an exemption from taxation on his planing mill for ten years
On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald Gildersleeve
Ordered, That the petition of David Gray in reference to
taxes be referred to the Finance Committee to report
Ald Snook brought up the petition of George Brown respecting
back taxes
On motion of Ald Snook seconded by Ald Fee
Ordered, That the petition of George Brown be referred to
the Committee on back taxes to report
Ald Harty brought up the petition of Walter C Horton and other
fish mongers asking permission to sell fish from their places of
business as formerly
Ald Harty gives notice that he will move an amendment to
the Fish By Law with a view to permit the sale of fish in
any part of the city in premises properly fitted therefor under
the supervision of the Clerk of the Market and that this be the
first reading of the By Law
Aldermen McRossie and Doran here left with permission
Ald Gaskin from the Committee on Finance and Accounts
brought up a report (Number 1 Book E) which was read and
adopted
The Chairman from the Committee on Streets and Improvements
brought up a Report (Number 2 Book E) which was read
Ald Gaskin moves seconded by Ald Fee
That the Report of Committee on Streets be received
and adopted
In amendment
Ald Harty moves seconded by Ald CF Gildersleeve
That the Report of the Streets Committee be so
amended as to make the position of Mr Hance read as Chief of
Police instead of Commissioner
which being put was lost
