A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston
was held this day. Present

His Worship The Mayor
Aldermen Allen, Anglin, Clements, Doran, Dupuis, Gaskin, CF Gildersleeve,
Harty, Irving, Law, Maloney, McCammon, McRossie, Snook

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting

A Communication from Joel Kent Esq was read relative
to the watering of King Street between William and West streets.
There was no action taken thereon

A Communicaiton from R Waddell and others was read
respecting nuisances

Ald Fee here entered

Ald Gildersleeve moves seconded by Ald Maloney
That the general and special orders of the day
be suspended for the present and that the Council do now
go into Committee of the whole on the second reading of the
By Law regarding the office of City Commissioner

Ald McMahon here entered

Ald Gildersleeve's motion being put was lost
Yeas: The Mayor Aldermen Dupuis, CF Gildersleeve, Harty,
Irving, Maloney, McCammon (7)
Nays: Aldermen Allen, Anglin, Clements, Doran, Fee,
Gaskin, Law, McMahon, McRossie, Snook (10)

A Communication from John Kelly and Robert T Burns
Post Office Officials was read asking for a refund of taxes
and interest for the years 1876 and 1877 paid by them
under protest.

A Communication from John Power Esq on behalf of
the Commissioners on Streets was read asking payment
for services rendered

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered, That the Communication of the Post
Office Clerks also Communication of City Commissioners
in reference to payment for valuation of City Property
be referred to the City Solicitor to report.

A Communication from John Roddick Reeve of Leeds
and Lansdowne respecting sale of road was read

On motion of Ald McRossie seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That the Communication of the Reeve
of Leeds be referred to the Committee on Streets to report

A Communication from JR Leake was read
respecting Culvert in Kingston & Phillipsville Road

On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald McCammon
Ordered, That the Communication of JR Leake
in reference to culvert on Phillipsville road be referred to
the Committee on Streets to report
