Ald McIntyre brought up the petition of the
Poor Relief Association praying the Council will devise
means of employment for poor working men

On motion of Ald McIntyre seconded by Ald McRossie
Ordered, That the petition of the Poor Relief Association
be referrred to the Finance Committee with an intimation
from this Council that a sum not greater than one
hundred dollars be allotted for the purpose specified
therein, if the said committee see fit to grant and provide
same and also that the Committee report.

Ald Clements from the Committee on Finance and
accounts brought up a Report (Nunber 753 Book D
No 2) which was read and adopted

The Chairman from the Commitee on Fire, Water
and Gas brought up a Report (Numbr 754 Book D
No 2) which was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on Streets and
Improvements brought up a Report (Number 755 Book D No 2)
which was read and adopted.

Ald Allen introduced a By Law to repeal the By Law
entitled "A By Law relating to Dogs passed September
27th 1875 which was read a first time

On motion the Council adjourned

A Special Meeting of the Council of the Corporation
of the City of Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Anglin, Dupuis, Fee, Gaskin, CF Gildersleeve,
JP GIldersleeve, Harty, Irving, Law, Maloney,
McCammon, McGuire, McIntyre, McMahon,
Snook, Wilson

The Mayor stated he called the meeting to take into
consideration a Bill introduced into the Legislative Assembly
of Ontario for abolishing Market Tolls.

The Mayor submitted a circular from James Beatty Jr
Mayor of Toronto whichj was read enclosing a copy of the
petition of the City of Toronto against the Bill

Ald CF Gildersleeve from the Select Committee on
Municipal Amendments &c brought up a Report
