for applicants for the same - said applicaitons to be in by

That no action be taken in respect to assesors at the
present - which being put was lost Yeas 4 Nays 17
and the original being put was carried Yeas 18 Nays 3

A communication from James Agnew City Solicitor was
read as to the legality of Mr Chadwicks appointment as
City Commissioner &c

On motion the Council adjourned

A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the CIty
of Kingston was held this day. Present:

Allen, Anglin, Clements, Doran, Dupuis,
Fee, Gaskin, C Gildersleeve, JP Gildersleeve,
Harty, Irving, Law, Maloney, McCammon,
McGuire, McIntyre, McMahan, McRossie, Pense,
Snook, Wilson

The Clerk read the minutes of the two last meetings.

A circular from Lieut. Col. Otter was read asking
for a grant for Rifle Aassociation Toronto. There was no
action taken thereon

A communication on Postasl Card In Re Thomas Seale
Insolvent was read

On motion of Ald Snook seconded by Ald McGuire
Ordered, That the Communication of JL Whiting be
referred to the City Solicitor for explanation.

A communication from Smythe and Dickson was read
asking compensation for damages to one Elizabeth Sarah
Jame Newman

A communication from Messrs McGuire and Claxton was
also read asking compensation for injuries to William
Burrows

On motion of Ald Dupuis seconded by Ald Allen
