A Meeting of the Members elect of the new Council of the
Corporation of the City of Kingston was held this day. Present

Robert J Carson, Esquire Mayor
Aldermen

Cataraqui Ward
John Maloney, William Allen, William B Anglin

Frontenac Ward
Edward JB Pense, James McCammon, Thomas H McGuire,

Ontario Ward
William Wilson, William Irving, Leonard Clements

Rideau Ward
Edward Law, Samuel H Fee, John McIntyre

St Lawrence Ward
Thomas R Dupuis, Tunis L Snook, Thomas McMahon

Sydenham Ward
WIlliam McRossie, James P GIldersleeve, William Harty

Victoria Ward
Charles F GIldersleeve, Michael Doran

The City Clerk administered the Declarations
of Qualification and of office to the Mayor elect

Whereupon the Mayor took the Chair and administered
the declarations of Qualification and of office to the
Aldermen

The Mayor nominated James Duncan Thompson
as one of the City Auditors

On motion of Ald McIntyre seconded by Ald McRossie
Ordered, That the Council do now proceed to appoint
an auditor by ballot, the person receiving the majority of
the votes of this Council to be declared elected.

A Ballot having been taken resulted as follows:

For Joseph E Clark - 11 votes
For Frederick J George - 10 votes
For Thomas Cruise - None

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald CF
Gildersleeve
Ordered, That the nomination of the Mayor of JD
Thompson as auditor for 1880 be confirmed

Ald Snook moves seconded by Ald McRossie
That Aldermen Harty, Anglin, Wilson
McCammon, McIntyre, Gaskin and the mover be a
Committee to strike the standing Committees for the present
year.

In amendment
Ald Dupuis moves seconded by Ald Harty
That the following gentlemen be a provisional
committee to strike the standing Committees of the year
and that they be allowed till next Thursday evening to bring
in
