In amendment
Ald McGuire moves seconded by Ald Allen
That the report be amended by stating a recommendation
that a sum of money sufficient be appropriated for the erection of
the lamp prayed for by the petition of Thomas Graham and others.
This motion was declared out of order.

The original motion being put was carried.

The Chairman from the Select Committee on Officers
and Salaries and back taxes brought up a Report
(Number 742 Book D No 2) which was read.

On motion of Ald Snook seconded by Ald McGuire
Ordered, That the report of the Committee on
Officers salaries and back taxes be adopted.

Ald Gaskin gives notice he will at the next
meeting of the Council introduce a Resoltuion fixing
the salary of the Mayor.

On motion the Council adjourned.

A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day. Present:

His Worship The Mayor
Aldermen:
Allen, Anglin, Carson, Drennan, Fee, Gaskin,
Gildersleeve, Harty, Irving, Mooers, McDermott,
McGuire, McIntyre, McKelvey, McRossie, Oliver,
Pense, Redden, Snook, Wilson

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.

A communication from Allen Chadwick Special
Collector was read stating that the rolls for the years 1974,
1875, 1876 & 1877 were in a position to return to the CIty
Treasury.

A requisition from A Lanigan was read for certain
articles for use in City Buildings &c

A communication from Thomas Conley was read
stating the amount collected by him for dog tax during the
year 1879 was $193

A communication from Alexander Smith Clerk of
Market was read asking for instructions as to summonsing
persons
