Kingston October 20, 1879

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston
was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Anglin, Carson, Drennan, Fee,
Gildersleeve, Harty, Irving, Mooers, McDermott,
McGuire, McIntyre, McKelvey, McRossie, Pense,
Redden, Snook

The Clerk read the Minutes of the two last meetings.

A communication from Allen Chadwick was read
applying for the Office of City Commissioner.

On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered, That the communication of Mr Chadwick
be referred to the Committee on Officers and Salaries to
report.

A communication from John Ashley was read
requesting payment of account for service. There was no
action taken thereon at this stage.

A communication from WIlliam P Minnes, Collector
of Taxes was read requesting an extension of time for the
collection and return of the taxes for 1875, 1876 & 1877, owing
to illness until the next regular meeting. There was no action
taken here.

A communication from John Stewart Esquire, MD
was read complaining of the Police Magistrate &c.
There was no action taken thereon.

A communication from Thomas A Dupuis respecting
taxes was read. There was no ation taken thereon.

A report from the City Clerk was read showing
the decisions of Judge Price on the matter of appeals
from the decision of the Court of Revision.

A report from the City Treasurer was read
in Re Dog Tax amount received for 1879.

Ald Gaskin entered.

A report form the CIty Engineer was read
relative to John Houses' drain.

Also another report showing the expenditure
for the present year to date.

Ald Drennan brought up the petition of
T Dorlan praying permission to construct a trap
door four feet square to his premises Kings street.

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That the petition of T Dorlan be referred
to the Committee on Streets to report.

Ald Allen brought up the petition of James
Nesbitt praying the Magistrate be instructed to take
infirmations &c at later hours than he at present does
