Kingston October 14th 1879

A Special meeting of the Council of the Corporation
of the City of Kingston was held this day

Present
His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Anglin, Allen, Carson, Fee, Gildersleeve,
Harty, Irving, Mooers, McCammon,
McDermott, McGuire, McKelvey, McRossie,
Pense, Snook

The Mayor stated the meeting was called to
consider a Report from the Court of Revision and
to enable the Collector of Taxes to make his returns.

The Chairman from the Court of Revision
brought up a Report (Number 723 Book D No 2)
which was read and adopted.

Mr William P Minnes Collector of Taxes submitted
Returns of Uncollected "Dog Tax" for the years
1875, 1876, and 1877 which were read.

On motion of Ald Harty seconded by Ald McKelvey
Ordered , That the amounts on the report of
arrears of Dog Tax for the Years 1975, 76 and 77 be
written off as the same are believed to be uncollectable.

A petition from John Ferguson respecting Taxes
was read. There was no action taken thereon.

A Communication from James Shannon on the
subject of arrears of Taxes was read.

On motion of Ald Snook seconded by Ald McGuire
Ordered, That the letter of Mr Shannon be
referred to the Committee on back taxes.

On motion the Council adjourned.
