Kingston Sept 30th 1879

A Special meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of
Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Carson, Drennan, Fee, Gildersleeve, Harty, Irving,
Mooers, McCammon, McDermott, McGuire, McIntyre,
McKelvey, Oliver, Pense, Redden, Snook

The Mayor stated the meeting was called to take up general
business.

Ald McKelvey brought up the petition of SR Tomkins
asking for a refund of part of his Butchers License.

On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald Mooers
Ordered, That petition of SR Tomkins be referred to the
Committee on Licenses to report.

The By Law to levy a rate of sixteen mills in the dollar upon
the assessed ablue of the rateable property in the City of Kingston
for the lawful purposes of the Municipality for the year of Our
Lord 1879 was read a third time.

On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered, That the eighth and ninth clauses of the By Law as
read be struck out.

The By Law was passed as amended.

Ald Allen and Ald Anglin here entered.

Ald Gaskin from the Committee on Finance and Accounts
brought up a report in re arrears of taxes which was read.
A question having arisen as to the Report being in order. The
Mayor ruled the Report in order.

Ald Gaskin asked the permission of the Council to withdraw
the report which was allowed.

On motion the Council adjourned
