Monday 7.30 O'Clock PM
Kingston September 13th 1879

A Special meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship The Mayor
Aldermen
Carson, Fee, Gaskin, Harty, Mooers, McCammon,
McDermott, McIntyre, McKelvey, McRossie, Pense,
Redden, Wilson

On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered, That the Treasurer be instructed under the
advice of the City Solicitor to collect forthwith all amounts
due for frontage by parties for entering city drains.

On motion of Ald Pense seconded by Ald McCammon
Ordered, That the City Engineer be instructed to report
fortnightly to the Committee upon streets the amount of money
expended in each ward up to date with a statement of works
in progress and the proportion not paid for.

On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald Mooers
Ordered, That the Mayor instruct the Treasurer with the
assistance of the Tax Collector to make out a list of unpaid
taxes for the years 1875, 1876, 1877, 1878, giving names
and amounts due, and on presentatio nto the Council the same
& read by the Clerk in full.

Ald Gaskin gives notice that on presentation of
statement of taxes due mentioned in previous resolution, he
intends moving a resolution that the same be published in
the City Papers.

A communication from John Kerr Esquire Manager Kingston
Gas Works was read in re lighting street lamps &c

On motion of Ald Carson seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That the communication of John Kerr be
referred to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas to report.

A communication from Sidney Smith Esquire was read
respecting the heating of the Registry Office.

On motion of Ald Harty seconded by Ald Pense
Ordered, That the communication of Mr Sidney Smith
be referred to the Committee on City Property with a view to
their communicating with the Committee of the County
Council to adopt proper measures for the heating of the
Registry Office.

A communication from RC McQuaig re Dominion
Exhibition was read.

There was no action taken thereon
Ald McRossie brought up the petition of Thomas McConville
praying permission to sell fresh meat under the provisions of the
By Law.
