On motion of Ald McGuire seconded by Ald McCammon

Ordered that the petition of Jame C Gardiner and
George walker be referred to the City Solicitor to report at the
next meeting of this Council

Ald McGuire brought up the petition of T. J. Donoghue
praying permission to open a trap door in the side walk
on Montreal street near Princess street opposite his shop

On motion of Ald McGuire seconded by Ald Snook

Ordered that the petition of T. J. Donoghue be referred
to the Committee on Streets with power to act

Ald Harty from the Committee on Finance and
Accounts brought up Reports Numbers 703, 704 & 705
Book D No 2) which were read and adopted

The Chairman from the Committee on Streets &c brought
up a Report (Number 706 Book D No 2) which was read

Ald Carson moves seconded by Ald McRossie

That the Report of the Committee on Streets and
Improvements be received and adopted

In Amendment 1st

Ald Snook moves seconded by Ald McKelvey

That the report be amended by adding thereto
that the persons to whom Contracts are awarded do
perform the work when required or that the respective
representatives of the wards be at liberty to get the work
done by other persons at same price

In Amendement 2nd

Ald McGuire moves seconded by Ald Carson

That the work be performed within such time
as required by the Committee on Streets and that in
default the Committee of the Ward whereon the work is
not so done get the work done by other persons at same
price which being put was lost and the first amendment
being put was carried and the Report was adopted
as amended

The Chairman from the Committee on the
Market brought up a Report (Number 707 Book D)
which was read

Ald Fee moves seconded by Ald Gaskin
That the Report of the Market Committee (Clause
No 1) be received and adopted

In amendment
Ald McKelvey moves seconded by Ald McGuire
That the portion of the report on the Market relative
to enforcing the By Law relating to the sale of fish be struck
out and that this resolution be a notice of a By Law to
amend the By Law relative to the sale of Fish which being
put was Carried and the report was adopted as amended
on
