A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston was held this day Present
his Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Anglin, Free, Gildensleeve, Irving
Movers[?], McClennen, McGuire, McIntyre
McKelvey, McRossie, Pense, Redden
Snell, Wilson

The clerk read the minutes of the last meeting
In motion of Ald McRossie seconded by Ald McIntyre
Ordered, that the creditors report how presented
be referred to the Finance Committeeto have the same
printed for distribution.
A Resolution from the General Committee on the reception of His Excellency the Governor General and
Her Royal Highness the Princess Louise was read
requesting an additional grant.
Ald Sneck[?] moves seconded by Ald Redden
that $100 be granted to the Fire Brigade
for fire works and torch light procession during the
approaching celebration for similar purposes all to
be under the control of the illimination committee.
In amendment
Ald McGuire moves seconded by Ald Allen
that the reception committee be requested to
appropriate $100 of the $700 granted by the council
as follows, namely $50 for [?] and $50 for the
[?] - which being was lost and the original motion
was carried
Yeas - the mayor, Ald Gildensleeve, Irving, McClennen
McKelvey, McRossie, Pense, Redden, Snell, Wilson
Neas - Allen, Anglin, Free, Movers[?], McGuire, McIntyre
A communication from Misses MacDonnell and Madie was
read on behalf of Mrs. Stratford claiming compensation for
injuries.
On motion of Ald McRossie seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, that the communication from Misses MacDonnell and Madie be referred to the committee for finance.
Communications from Isaac Simpson Secretary [?]
of Industry and Samuel Shaw were read respecting the
establishing of Pounds in certain localities.
On motion of ald Pense seconded by ald Movers
Ordered that the Market Committee be instructed
to establish City Pounds at once at the House of Industry
Montreal street and at the Mills at Earl Street, and that
