Ordered, that the petition of John Maloney and others be
referred to the Committee on Streets to report

Ald Pense brought up the petition of James Conley and seven
others praying for an increase of wages.

On motion of Ald Pense seconded by Ald. Redden
Ordered, That the petition of James Conley and others be
referred to the Committee on Streets with power to act.

Ald. McCammon brought up the petition of Wm. David praying
for permission to continue selling on the Market Square.

On motion of Ald. McCammon seconded by Ald. McGuire
Ordered that the petition of Wm. David be referred to the
Committee on Licenses to report.

Ald. McCammon brought up the petition of Patrick Powers
praying that a drain be opened to drain his houses on Ordnance
Street.

On motion of Ald. McCammon seconded by Ald. Pense
Ordered that the petition of Patrick Powers be referred to the
Committee on Streets to report.

Ald Drennan brought up the petition of Messrs McNaughton & Co
and others praying that a special rate be levied on the Freeholders
and Householders resident on Princess Street sufficient to defray the
expenses of watering said street between King and Barrie Streets, during
the summer months.

Ald. McDermott brought up the petition of Margaret E Booth
claiming damages for injuries sustained owing to the amount of ice
which was allowed to collect on the corner of Princess and Montreal
Streets

On motion of Ald McDermott seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered, that the petition of Margaret E Booth be referred
to the Committee on Finance to report.

The Mayor as Chairman of the Select Committee for the
reception of Governor General brought up a report No. 691 Book D no. 2
which was read and adopted.

Ald Drennan moves seconded by Ald. McKelvey
That the Finance Committee are hereby authorized to
place to the credit of Reception Committee the sum of seven hundred
and fifty dollars towards defraying the expenses of said reception and
that said amount of money be under the control of the sub-committee
appointed by this Council

Ald McKelvey moves seconded by Ald Harty
That the resolution passed at a former meeting of this
Council appointing a sub committee to make arrangements for the
reception of His Excellency, the Governor General and Her Royal Highness
be reconsidered and the following be a Committee to act in their stead
His Worship The Mayor, Ald Allen, Gaskin, Drennan, Fee, Snook, McGuire
said committee to have control of the expenditure in connection with
