On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered that the Chamberlain be requested
to report to this Council at its next meeting the reason
why the Non-resident lan ds were not sold during the
years 1877 and 1878 for the taxes due upon them
On motion of Ald McRossie seconded by Ald McIntyre
Ordered that it be referred to the Court of
Revision to take such action as will enable the Council to
collect the taxes in four equal quarterly instalments
instead of yearly as at present and that the said Court
of Revision report to this Council the action they deem
necessary to put this new arrangement in operation
On motion the Council adjourned

City of Kingston was held this day Present

McKelvey, McRossie, Oliver, Pense, Redden

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting
On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald McKelvey
Ordered that We the Members of the Council of
this Council have learned with unfeigned regret of the
death of Mr William Ireland for thirteen years the faithful
Treasurer of this Corporation, a man whom to know was to
respect that we tender to his Widow and family our sincere
sympathy in their deep and unlooked for affliation
Commending them to the watchful solicitude of an all
wise providence, and that as a testimony of our regard
for the memory of the deceased we attend the funeral
in a body
On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald Drennan
Ordered that Mr. F Ireland the present assistant
be and is hereby appointed Treasurer at a salary of
one
