That the council go into Committee of the
Whole on the report now before the Chair which
being put was Carried

Nays Aldermen Fee, Gaskin, McGuire, McIntyre, Snook 5
and the original motion was lost.

The Council Resumed
The Committee rose, and the Chairman reported the
report adopted as amended by the following resolutions
On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered that the salary of the Chamberlain
be $1200 per annum
On motion of Ald Pense seconded by Ald McCammon
Ordered, that the City Clerks salary be
$1200, his assistants $400 and that the City Clerk
be appointed Police Court Clerk at a salary of
$100 per year
On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald Drennan
Ordered that that portion of the report with
reference to the Police Force be struck out and the following
substituted that we earnestly request the Police Commissioners
to reduce the expense of the Police Force as far as is
consistent with its efficiency
On Motion of the Mayor seconded by Ald McKelvey
Ordered that the Consideration of the remuneration
to be paid the Collection be deferred until the time of his
appointment
On motion of Ald Allen seconded by Ald Drennan
Ordered that the Clerk of the Markets salary
be four hundred dollars
On motion of Ald Mooers seconded by Ald Irwin
Ordered that the salary of the Mechanical
Engineer be $450 a year
On motion of Ald Allen seconded by Ald Drennan
Ordered that the Amount for the Mayor be
laid over
