Ordered, that the petition of R M Rose and
others in regard to Taxes be referred to the Court of Revision
Ald Gaskin brought up the petition of James
Keyes and 18 other praying for the enlargement of the
drain which runs into the Lake at the Grave Inn
and to have it Covered.
On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald McKelvey
Ordered, that the petition of James Keyes
and others in reference to drain in Victoria Ward be
referred to the Committee on Streets to report.
Ald Carson from the Committee on Finance
and accounts brought up a Report (Number 675 Book D
No 2) which was read and adopted
On motion of Ald Carson seconded by Ald McRossie
Ordered, that the report of the Committee on
Streets and Improvements passed at the last meeting of
the Council be amended so that all accounts for
broken stone to the amount of ten dollars and under
be paid in full and that the Chamberlain be instructed
to pay accordingly the amounts for stone as per return
of the City Engineer of 24th January 1879 attached
hereto.
The Chairman from the Committee on Fire, Water
and Gas brought up a Report which was read. There
was no action taken thereon
On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Wilson
Ordered, that the Mayor be authorised to offer a
reward of five dollars for the conviction of the parties
wantonly breaking and stealing coal oil lamps and Glass
On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald McRossie
Ordered, that the City Commissioner report to
this Council at its next regular meeting the amount due
for frontage the names of the parties in arrears and the
reason why the amounts due have not been paid
On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered, that the Police Commissioners be requested
to Cause one of the Policemen to live in the vicinity of the
Grave Inn - Victoria Ward
On motion the Council adjourned
