William Allen, Alderman for Cataraqui Ward
was absent through illness

Cornelius V Price Esquire Judge of the County
Court of the County of Frontenac administered the
Declarations of qualification and of office to the Mayor
elect

Whereupon the mayor took the chair and administered
the declarations of qualifications and of office to the
members present

A Communication from George A Kirkpatrick Esq
Secretary Collegiate Institute was read stating that
Messers John Fraser and George A Kirkpatrick were the
retiring Trustees of the Institute.

On Motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Carson
Ordered that Messers George A Kirkpatrick and
John Fraser be re-appointed as Trustees of the Collegiate
Institute

The Clerk submitted applications from John D Ferris
George J Jeffrey for the offices of Auditor and Assessor

Sidney W Scobell, Joseph E Clark and John D Ferris
was nominated for the office of Auditor

On motion of Ald Carson seconded by Ald McKelvey
Ordered that the auditor for the council be
now appointed by ballot *

*In Amendment 1st
Ald Gaskin moves seconded by Ald Anglin
That the Vote for Auditor be an open
Vote which being put was lost ^as also the first amendment and the
original motion was carried

In Amendment 2nd
Ald McIntyre moves seconded by Ald McRossie
That the Mayor by requested to nominate one auditor for the present year and that
the Council afterward proceed to that the second auditor by ballot

Nays Messrs Anglin, Drennan, Gaskin, McCammon,

The Council proceeded to ballot for an auditors which
on the fourth ballot resulted as follows
For S W Scobell - Ten Votes
For Joseph E Clark - Eleven Votes
The Mayor declared Joseph E Clark elected

The Mayor nominated William Stewart as auditor

Ald McKelvey moves seconded by Ald Harty
That the appointment of William Stewart as the
Mayors Auditor be confirmed and that the salary attached
to the office of Auditor be $100.00 this amount to include
payment for any additional work required by this Council
such as furnishing lists of uncollected taxes &c

In Amendment
Ald McIntyre moves seconded by Ald Gaskin
That His Worship the Mayor be requested to nominate
another auditor instead of the person William Stewart
nominated as he said William Stewart is not satisfactory
to this council - this motion being declared out of order
