A Communication from George J Jeffrey was read asking
to be appointed as auditor or assessor
Ordered that Mr Jeffreys Communication be left to the
New Council

A Communication from H B Evans Esquire MD was
read enclossing a letter from Mr William Rigley on the subject
of a site in the City of Kingston for the location of Iron Works
on a large scale

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Drennan
Ordered that the Communication of Dr Evans be referred
to the Committee on Finance to report

Ald McCammon brought up the petition of George Gray
asking the Council to take a few tons of broken stone off his hands
to enable him to pay his taxes

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered, That the petition of George Gray be referred to the
Committee on Streets to report.

Ald Metcalfe brought up the petition of Samuel Cannem
praying for attention to the breaking of the Coal Oil Lamps

On motion of Ald Metcalfe seconded by Ald Fee
Ordered, That the petition of Samuel Cannem be referred
to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas to report at the next regular
meeting.

Ald Metcalfe brought up the petition of the Misses
Brophy and O'Reilly praying for a remission of the
rent of the City Hall on the occasion of their Bazaar

Ald Metcalfe moves seconded by Ald Carson
That an amount equal to the rent of the City Hall
be granted to the Young Ladies Aid Society as per the petition
of Misses Brophy and O'Reilly on their behalf - which
being put was lost.

Ald Woods brought up the petition of the Kingston
mechanics Institute praying for the rooms at present occupied
by them and also the room formerly occupied by the Chief of
Police for the term of two years at a nominal rental.

On motion of Ald Carson seconded by Ald McRossie
Ordered, That the petition from the Mechanics
Institute be referred to the Committee on City Property to
report.

Ald Carson brought up the petition of JA Karch
respecting frontage account served on him by City Commisioner
