Elliott and 5 others Butchers praying that the
By Law lately passed restricting the sale of fresh
meat to the shambles be not carried into effect until
the first day of May 1879

That the petition of W G Elliott and others
Butchers be referred to the Committee on the Market
to report at the next regular meeting of the Council

In amendment
Ald Woods moves seconded by Ald Gaskin
That the Chairman of City Property be
authorised to advertise the stalls in the market
for sale by Pulic Auction to take place on or
before December 31st and leases to run during
the year 1879 which being put was carried and
the orignal motion was lost

Ald Pense from the Committee on Finance and
Accounts brought up two reports (Numbers 662 & 663
Book 2 (No 2) which were read

Ald Pense seconded by Ald Carson
that the reports of the committee on Finance
and accounts be received and adopted

In amendment
Ald Allen moves seconded by Ald Thompson
That the amount of Messrs Oldreive & Aerns
account for repairs to Flag Staffs be added to the
Finance report

In amendment
Ald Gaskin moves seconded by Ald Mooers
That owing to the military in connection with
keeping the flag pole Cataraqui Ward (market No 2)
in repair for some years, and as there is at present
a claim against it to the amount of forty nine
dollars. This council thinks it wise to relinquish their
claim to the party who are willng to pay the amount
of the said claim - which being put was lost
