A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the
City of Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Anglin, Asselstine, Carson, Clements
Drennan, Dupuis, Fee, Gaskin, Gildersleeve
Metcalfe, Mooers, McCammon, McRossie, Pense
Thompson, Wilson, Woods

The clerk read the minutes of the three last
meetings

A communication from Dr Phelan President of
the St Vincent De Paul Society was read asking that
the money paid for the use of the City Hall on the
occasion of the Charitable Lecture given by the Rev'd
Father Stafford be refunded

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Metcalfe
Ordered that in reference to the Communication
of Dr Phelan that the Council grant a sum equivalent
to rent of the City Hall; the proceeds of lecture being
for Charitable purpose

A Communication from James Agnew Esquire City
Solicitor was read in re appreciation of the Church
Wardens of St Georges Church "Mortuary Chapel"

Also a communication In Re the application of House
of Industry for Incorporation

On motion of Ald Allen seconded by Ald Drennan
Ordered that no action be taken at present in
regard to the Communication of the City Solicitor in
reference to the House of Industry

A Communication from W R Mingaye was read
demanding $160.39 illegally paid by him in taxes &c

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered that the Communication of W R Mingaye
Esquire Collection of Customs be referred to the City Solicitor
to report at the next regular meeting of this Council

A communication from B M Britton Esquire was
read respecting Street Railway Taxes

On motion of Ald McRossie seconded by Ald Carson
Ordered that the Communication of B M Britton
in re Street Railway be referred to the City Solicitor to
report

A Communication from Messrs Anderson & Nesbitt was
read on the subject of Electricity

On motion of Ald Woods seconded by Ald McCammon
Ordered that the Communication of Anderson
and Nesbitt be referred to the Committee of Fire, Water and
Gas to report
