Ordered that the communication of Chief Horsey be
referred to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas to report

A communication from the Church Wardens St
Georges Cathedral was read on the subject of creating a
receiving house for the dead on the old burying ground of
the Church of England in this City.

On motion of Ald. Drennan, seconded by Ald. Allen
Ordered that the Communication of the Church
Warden's be referred to the Committee on Finance to report.

A Communication from James Agnew City Solicitor was
read enclosing Certificate Mr. J W Nash P L L stating the
City is not entitled to the piece of land which would be covered
by the extension of Gordon Street to the water

A Copy of a resolution adopted by the Directors
of the House of Industry on the expediency of incorporating
the Directors of the House of Industry was submitted

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered, that the Communication of the House of
Industry (Mr Fraser) be referred to the City Solicitor and
the Committee of the House of Industry to report

Another resolution from the House of Industry was
presented requesting the council to take from the House
of Industry 70 tons of broken stone prepared by the
Inmates of the Institution

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Carson
Ordered that the Communication of the House
of Industry (Mr Fraser) be referred to the Committee on
Finance to report

Ald Metcalfe brought up the petition of Thomas
Boyle praying for a gratuity from the City owing to
his length of service

On motion of Ald Metcalfe seconded by Ald Fee
Ordered that the petition of Thomas Boyle
be referred to the Market Committee to report

On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald Mooers
Ordered that the Scavenger now to be appointed
after and before doing the Market work will be under
the Control of the City Engineer to do what will be
required of him Yeas 14 Nays 4

The applications for the situation of Market Scavenger
are as follows : viz. Henry Grave, James Bennett, Andrew
Rea, James Connolly and John Perdu

A ballot being taken which resulted on the
second ballot in favor of James Bennett

James Bennet was then declared elected

Ald Drennan brought up the petition of George Brown
praying for a remission of a portion of his Livery License Fee

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Allen
