A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the
City of Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Anglin, Asselstine, Carson, Clements,
Drennan, Fee, Gaskin, Gildersleeve, Harty,
Metcalfe, Mooers, McCammon, McRossie, Pense,
Walkem, Wilson, Woods.

The Clerk read the minutes of the two last meetings.

A circular from Charles Gillman Esquire, Clerk
Legislative Assembly was read In Re Municipal taxation
and exemptions.

On motion of Ald Walkem seconded by Ald McRossie.
Ordered, That the following Aldermen be appointed
a Committee to consider and report upon the Communication
of Charles Gillman. Ald Walkem, McRossie, Carson,
Allen, Harty, Drennan & McCammon.

A Communication from John Kidd Esquire for the
Governor Generals Secretary was read conveying the Earl
of Dufferin's thanks for the illuminated addresses.

A Communication from A Le Richeaux, Deputy
Registrar was read on the subject of heating Registry office.

On motion of Ald Gildersleeve seconded by Ald Carson
Ordered, That the Communication of Mr Le Richeux
be referred to the Committee on City Property to report.

A Communication from James Bennett was read
for the appointment of Market Scavenger.

A Communication from A Sevansten and 17 others was
read recommending Andrew Rea for an appointment

Petitions from Joseph Taylor, Mary T Curnun, James
J Whitehead, Andrew McLean, Samuel Woods, Jacob
Sherman, William Hinds were introduced and referred
to the Court of Revision.

A Communication from FJ George, Secretary Cataraqui
Cemetery Co was read respecting Internments of paupers

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That the Communication of Mr George be
referred to the Finance Committee to report.

A Communication from Mr Arthur W Moore was read
asking to be entrusted with the execution of address to be
presented to His Excellency the Marquis of Linn.

On motion of Ald Pense seconded by Ald Carson
Ordered, That the petition of Mr AW Moore be
referred to the Finance Committee.

A Communication from Edwin Horsey Chief Engineer
Fire Department was read recommending Hose &c

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered,
