The 29th Rule was suspended and the Council
went into Committee of the whole on the second reading.

Ald Wilson in the Chair
The Council resumed.
The Committee rose and the Chairman reported
the second reading of the By Law clause by clause
in Committee as amended. The Report was received.

The By Law was read a third time and passed
Yeas the Mayor Aldermen Allen, Anglin Asselstine,
Carson, Drennan, Dupuis, Gaskin,
Mooers, McCammon, Pense, Wilson - 12
Nays Messrs Fee, Gildersleeve, Metcalfe, McRossie,
Woods - 5

Ald Gaskin moves seconded by Ald Mooers
That the resolution of Ald Walkem in reference
to Butchers By Law be reconsidered which being put
was lost - Yeas 10 Nays 4. A majority of the whole
Council not voting for it.

On motion the Council adjourned

Kingston October 21st 1878

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the
City of Kingston was held this day. Present

Aldermen
Allen, Anglin, Asselstine, Carson, Clements,
Drennan, Fee, Gaskin, Gildersleeve, Harty,
Metcalfe, Mooers, McCammon, McRossie, Pense,
Walkem, Wilson, Woods.

The Mayor being absent Alderman Drennan was
chosen Chairman.

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.

A communication from Edwin Dorsey, Chief Engineer
Fire Department was read asking payment of the six
months salary of the Fire Department now due them.

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered, That the communication of E Dorsey
Chief Engineer of Fire Department be received and adopted.

A Communication from James A McDewal was
read respecting taxes.
