Ordered, That the Committee on Streets be authorised
to have such repairs made to the Princess street drain as may
be absolutely necessary to prevent back water if such is found
to exist - this without prejudice to existing suit or suits.

Ald Pense brought up the petition of James Nesbitt
praying for repairs to Weigh House Number two.

On motion of Ald Pense seconded by Ald McCammon
Ordered, That the petition of James Nesbitt be
referred to the Market Committee to act.

Ald Metcalfe brought up the petition of Patrick
Lennon and others praying the Council to take broken stone.

On motion of Ald Metcalfe seconded by Ald McCammon
Ordered, That the petition of Patrick Lennon and
others be referred to the Committee on Streets to report - this
to include the House of Industry stone.

Ald Gaskin brought up the petition of David
Gray praying exemption from taxation on his tanning mill
for four or five years.

On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald Mooers
Ordered, That the petition of David Gray in reference
to exemption of taxes be referred to the Court of Revision
to report.

Ald Gaskin brought up the petition of Michael Doran
and 5 others praying for a free communication with the water
at the foot of Gordon street.

On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald Mooers
Ordered, That the petition of M Doran and others
in reference to the opening up of Gordon street to the water
a distance of some forty feet be referred to the Committee
on Streets and that the City Clerk notify the parties about
building a stable that a proposition has been made to open
the street - Committee also to report on the obstruction to Queen
street and other streets.

Ald Pense from the Committee on Finance and Accounts
brought up a Report (Number 651 Book D No 2) which
was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on Fire Water
and Gas brought up a Report (Number 652 Book D
No 2) which was read and adopted.

On motion of Ald McRossie seconded by Ald Asselstine
Ordered, That the City Solicitor be requested to
communicate with the proper Railway Companies asking
for payment of the amounts paid by the City on filling
up the street caused by the Railway track being raised on
Ontario street opposite Rees Hotel.

Ald Gaskin introduced a By Law to levy a rate of
sixteen mills on the dollar upon the assessed value of
the rateable property in the City of Kingston for the lawful
purposes of the Municipality for the year of our Lord
one
