Kingston September 24 1878

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of
Kingston was held this day pursuant to adjournment. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Asselstine, Carson, Clements, Dupuis, Fee,
Gaskin, Gildersleeve, Metcalfe, Mooers, McCammon,
Walkem, Woods

The Mayor submitted a requisition from Andrew
Lanigan for fifty cords of fire wood for the city buildings
for the season of 78 & 79.

On motion of Ald Walkem, seconded by Ald Carson
Ordered, That the Committee on City Property
be authorised to call for tenders for fifty cords of wood
for heating the city buildings.

Ald Carson from the Committee on Finance and
Accounts brought up a Report (Number 649 Book D No 2)
which was read and adopted.

Ald Carson from the Committee on Finance and
Accounts brought up the Report (Number 650 Book D No 2)
Estimated Revenue and Expenditure of the City for the year
1878.

The Council went into Committee of the whole in the
whole on the report.

Ald Walkem in the Chair.
The Council resumed.
The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the
following resolution adopted in Committee of the whole.

Ordered, That the rate of taxation for the current
year be sixteen mills on the dollar instead of eighteen
mills as recommended by the Finance Committee.

The report of the Finance Committee as amended
was adopted.
Yeas: The Mayor, Aldmn Allen, Anglin, Asselstine, Carson,
Clements, Dupuis, Fee, Gaskin, Mooers, McCammon,
Walkem - 12
Nays: Aldmn Gildersleeve, Metcalfe, McRossie - 3

On motion the Council adjourned
