Kingston September 23rd 1878

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the
City of Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Anglin, Asselstine, Carson, Clements,
Drennan, Dupuis, Fee, Gaskin, Gildersleeve,
Harty, Metcalfe, Mooers, McCammon, McRossie,
Woods

The Clerk read the minutes of the three last meetings.
The minutes were not apporoved of as correct owing to the
last resolution of the meeting of August 26th not being passed (as
alleged) and a quorum of the Council.

A Communication from Edwin Dorsey Chief Engineer
was read asking permission to take the Chatham Fire
Engine, One Host Cart and 500 feet of hose outside the
City limits to the Cataraqui Driving Park to compete at the
Firemen's Tournament on the 26th & 27th instant.

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered, That the request of Chief Horsey be granted.

A communication of Mr Charles R Tuttle was read
asking for a photograph for his History of
Canada.

Moved by Ald Woods seconded by Ald Gildersleeve
That the communication of Mr Tuttle be laid on
the table.

In amendment
Ald Carson moves seconded by Ald Asselstine
That the communication of Mr Tuttle be referred
to the Committee on Finance to report which being put
was lost and the original motion was carried.

A communication from James A Henderson Esquire
QC was read stating he has been instructed by Mr and
Miss Ferris to order two actions against the Corporation
of the City for the injuries received by them on the 5th of
August last &c.

On motion of Ald Allen seconded by Ald McCammon
Ordered, That the communication of JA
Henderson QC be referred to the Committee on Streets
to report.

Sundry petitions respecting taxes were submitted
and referred to the Court of Revision.

A Communication from JC James Assistasnts
Engineer Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada
was read In Re Princess Street Drain.

On motion of Ald Allen seconded by Ald McRossie
Ordered, That the Communication of JC James be
referred to His Worship the Maor City Solicitor to report
