Ordered, That the petition of McKelvey and Birch and
others be referred to the Committee on Streets &c to report

Ald. Metcalfe brought up the Petition of Nelson Raymond
praying for a grant equal to the rent of the City Hall on the
occasion of the Concert on the 15th instant in aid of the Orphans
Home

On motion of Ald. Metcalfe seconded by Ald. Dupuis
Ordered, That the prayer of Nelson Raymond be
granted

Ald. Carson from the Committee on Finance and
Accounts brought up a report (Number 633 Book D) which
was read and adopted

The Chairman from the Committee on Streets and
Improvments brought up a Report (Number 634 Book D)
which was read and adopted. Yeas 14; Nays 4

Ald. Dupuis moves seconded by Ald. Metcalfe
That the Chairman of the Committee on the Fire Water
and Gas be authorised and empowered to proceed at once
to water Princess street from Barrie Street to the Waters edge
and that the expense of watering be defrayed out of the
public funds of the City which being put was lost

The Chairman from the joint Committee on Market
and City Property brought up a Report respecting Butchers
selling meat &c which was read

On motion of Ald. Drennan seconded by Ald. Gaskin
Ordered That the Council go into Committee of the
whole on the second reading of the By Law to amend
the Market By Law as to selling Fresh Meat yeas 12
nays 7

Ald. Gildersleeve in the chair

The Council resumed

The Committee rose reported progress and asked leave
to sit again. The Report was received

On Motion the Council adjourned
