Monday 7.30 o'Clock PM
Kingston March 11th 1878

A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of
Kingston was held this day. Present:

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen:
Allen, Anglin, Asselstine, Carson, Drennan,
Dupuis, Fee, Gaskin, Gildersleeve, Mooers, McCammon,
Pense, Price, Thompson, Walkem, Wilson, Woods.

The Clerk read the minutes of the two last meetings.

A communication from Messrs George Taylor and CE
Britton Special Committee on Fire, Gananoque was read
asking the favor of allowing the hand Fire Engine to be taken
to the Village by the Ferry Boat before deciding on its purchase

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered, That the communication of Mr George Taylor
be referred to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas with power
to act.

A communication from the Members of the Victoria Hook
and Ladder Company was read stating they passed a vote of
want of confidence in the Chief Engineer and praying the Council
to consider their resolution &c

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That the Communication of the Hook and Ladder
Company be referred to the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas to
report.

A Communication from Messrs Kirkpatrick and
Rogers was read offering to the City the Materials on
the front stone building on the corner of Garratt Homestead
on certain conditions.

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Wilson
Ordered, That the communication of Messrs
Kirkpatrick and Rogers be referred to the Committee
on Streets to report.

Ald Metcalfe here entered.

The Mayor submitted several communications from
the Department of the Minister of the Interior, Militia and
Defence and from Thomas Briggs Esquire on the subject
of the extension of Bagot street through the Artillery Reserve
to Bond Head street and of Barrack street to Bagot street
which he read

On motion of Ald Drennan seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That all the Communications in regard to the
extension of Bagot street be referred to the Committee on
Streets to report.

Ald McRossie here entered.
A communication from James Agnew Esquire, City
Solicitor was read. In Re Police Commissioners fixing cab stands
Ald
